Apple quietly launched Smart Battery Case for iPhone 6s

Apple just launched a new accessory called the Smart Battery Case and it is specifically designed for the iPhone 6 and 6s that has less juice than the Plus version.

The battery case comes with two different colors -Charcoal Gray and White. And it supports Lightning accessories, such as the Lightning to USB Cable and is compatible with the iPhone Lightning Dock.

As usual, Apple hides the actual specification of the battery size but highlighted that the battery can hold up to 18 hours of internet usage over LTE connection and 20 hours video playback. In addition to additional battery life, the soft microfiber lining on the inside of the battery case offers certain level of protection over the iPhone itself. (Edit: the battery size is 1877 mAh, which is more than the one embedded in iPhone 6s at 1715 mAh)

With this release, at a price tag set at $99, this definitely competes directly with other third-party battery case such as Mophie, LifeProof, etc. But here’s a lack of iPhone 6 Plus / 6s Plus support unlike the third-party solutions.
